Report: Thunder to send Adams to Pelicans for picks in multi-team trade

The Oklahoma City Thunder have agreed in principle to trade centre Steven Adams to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for picks as part of a multi-team trade, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Wojnarowski reports the Thunder’s haul will be a 2023 first-round pick — from the Denver Nuggets acquired by the Pelicans on Wednesday for the draft rights to RJ Hampton — and two second-round selections.

Adams, a native of New Zealand, has spent his entire seven-year career in Oklahoma City, putting up 10.9 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks on 59.2 per cent shooting last season for an upstart Thunder squad.

Over the course of his career, he’s averaged 9.8 points, 7.6 boards and 1.0 blocks with a 58.9 field-goal percentage.
