What are Guitar Effects Pedals?
There are many guitar enthusiasts today who have that great ambition to sound like their favorite band. Their great frustration is being able to play their favorite band’s songs but they fail when it comes to sounding like them. What you need to do about it is to use guitar effects pedals. You may have already heard about guitar effects pedals but have not done anything to secure one for yourself. The sounds produced by your favorite band can be copied using a guitar effects pedal. There are many different sounds produced by your favorite band, but if you use an individual effect pedal, they you can copy one of the sounds produced. You need to decide what sound you are trying to achieve so that you can choose the right individual effect pedal.
So what you can do is to visit your local music store and try out different effect pedals so that you can hear the sounds for yourself. If you love punk, meta, blues overdrive, grunge, etc. then you can try the distortion pedals which produce sounds for these music genres. While playing your guitar, step on the pedal once and you activate the effect. You turn on the sound by steeping once, and you need to step on the pedal again to turn it off. Try the different pedals until you find the sound that you like. All pedals are activated by stepping on it once and it is stopped by stepping on the pedal again. The digital delay effect is another pedal that produces a low repetition of the last note played. If you want a smooth element to your sound, then you can try the chorus effect. They also follow the same operation for activation and stopping.
There are other pedals that don’t follow the operation given. There are wah pedals that are used by first stepping all the way down the pedal to activate the switch and then gently rocked back and forth to produce the “wah” effect. Volume pedals are also rocked back and forth to control the volume. Another rocking back and forth pedal function is the whammy pedal which simulates the whammy bar of an electric guitar. This is ideal if your guitar does not have a whammy or if you don’t want to use them.
You can also find multi-effects pedals in stores. This is a single pedal that provides many different effects. These pedals are expensive but economical since you only buy one unit for many effects. Distortion pedal, single tap action, rocking pedal for wah, volume, and whammy effects can be found in a single multi-effect pedal. If you want quality sound, however, choose individual pedal over multi-effete pedals because they have better quality sound.
