Bills, Cardinals among favourites again on Week 3 NFL odds

The Buffalo Bills will be looking to open their season on a 3-0 straight-up run for a second straight year when they battle the undefeated Los Angeles Rams on Sunday as slim 2.5-point favourites on the NFL odds at sportsbooks monitored by

With quarterback Josh Allen turning in a career performance, Buffalo marched to a 31-28 win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 2 to improve to 5-1 straight-up in its past six September contests going into Sunday afternoon’s matchup at Bills Stadium.

Allen has been key to the Bills’ fast start. The 24-year-old earned NFC Offensive Player of the Week honours last week while becoming the first passer in Bills history to rack up over 400 passing yards, four touchdown passes and no interceptions in a single game. But despite Buffalo’s fast start, the team continues to lag behind the favourites on the Super Bowl 55 odds as a +1800 wager.

After kicking off their season with wins over Dallas and Philadelphia, the Rams travel to Buffalo looking to tally consecutive victories on the road for the first time since last September. The Rams have rewarded bettors with outright wins as underdogs in each of their first two outings this season. However, Los Angeles has struggled in rare dates with the Bills, going 2-6 straight-up and against the spread in eight meetings with Buffalo since 1983, according to the OddsShark NFL Database.

Elsewhere on the NFL Week 3 odds, Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals will be aiming to improve to a perfect 3-0 straight-up as they host the Detroit Lions as six-point chalk at sports betting sites. With Murray developing instant chemistry with recently acquired receiver DeAndre Hopkins, the Cardinals have tallied victories over San Francisco and Washington to improve to 4-1 straight-up and 4-0-1 against the spread in their past five games.

The Lions are coming off a 42-21 loss in Green Bay that extended their current straight-up losing streak to 11 games. Detroit is also winless straight-up in its past seven road dates, with each of its past three road defeats coming by a double-digit margin.

And a pair of marquee matchups highlight the primetime schedule in Week 3. The New Orleans Saints look to rebound from Monday’s 34-24 loss in Las Vegas as they return home to face the Packers on Sunday night as three-point chalk. As well, Monday Night Football features a clash of AFC titans, with the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs sitting as three-point underdogs ahead of their road date with the Baltimore Ravens.
