Last year Charles Leclerc was cheered by thousands of passionate Ferrari fans at Monza after he ended the team’s nine-year wait for victory at its home circuit.

After more than 40 years running one of Formula One’s most storied teams, the Williams family is stepping aside so that its new owners have a clear shot at reviving the team’s fortunes.

Claire Williams, whose father co-founded the Williams F1 team, is stepping down as deputy team principal after this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix.

The move follows the recent change in ownership to American-based investment firm Dorilton Capital, and means that the famed F1 family will cut its ties after 43 years and nearly 750 races.

Running back Leonard Fournette has agreed in principle to a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to multiple reports.

Shortly after reports of the deal emerged, Fournette posted a photoshopped image of himself in a Buccaneers jersey on social media, appearing to suggest he has confirmed his own signing.

Tampa Bay has not yet released an official statement on the reported deal.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the deal carries a $2 million base salary and can be worth up to $3.5 million, based on rush yards and playing time.

An anticipated featherweight matchup between stars Brian Ortega and “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung is set to headline an Oct. 17 UFC Fight Night event.

The organization made the official announcement this week after months of speculation.

Ortega and Jung were supposed to fight in December 2019 but Ortega sustained a knee injury and was forced to withdraw from the bout.

Both men have previously fought for the 145-pound title and both remain firmly in title contention.

Ortega (14-1, one no-contest) hasn’t fought since December 2018 when he lost via fourth-round technical knockout (doctor’s stoppage) to then-champion Max Holloway

NEW YORK — So much uncertainty accompanied Angelique Kerber when she boarded the plane for her trip to the U.S. Open.

The 2016 champion hadn’t played a match in seven months. She knew everything would be different at Flushing Meadows — no crowds, no city life, none of what makes the U.S. Open such a spotlight.

One she’d love to have back again.

The 17th-seeded Kerber moved into the third round Wednesday with a solid showing that brought some much-needed confidence. Her 6-3, 7-6 (6) victory over Anna-Lena Friedsam had her feeling more at home in the place where she
