Just about the only thing that went wrong for Collin Morikawa on Sunday was when, during the winner’s ceremony, the lid of the PGA Championship trophy went flying off as he lifted it for the first time.

Because everything else came easy – and that’s not supposed to happen for a 23-year-old playing just his second major championship ever, a mere 15 months after he was still a college student.

“I’m on cloud nine,” said Morikawa, a California native, of his PGA Championship win at TPC Harding Park. “I’ve believed in myself (and) I haven’t let up from that.”

SAN FRANCISCO — The shot will be remembered as one of the best under pressure that hardly anyone witnessed. It made Collin Morikawa a major champion Sunday in a thrill-a-minute PGA Championship that not many will forget.

Morikawa hit driver on the 294-yard 16th hole that was perfect in flight and even better when it landed, hopping onto the green and rolling to 7 feet for an eagle that all but clinched victory on a most quiet Sunday afternoon at Harding Park.

In the first major without spectators, the 23-year-old Californian finished with a bang.

TORONTO – Sunday was quite the day for Canadian basketball.

First, the Edmonton Stingers were crowned 2020 CEBL Summer Series champions after beating the Fraser Valley Bandits in 90-73 Elam-ending victory that capped off a fantastic couple weeks of or so of Canadian basketball in St. Catharines as the league managed to successfully put on an entertaining and safe tournament during these uncertain COVID-19 times.

Then, immediately after Summer Series MVP Xavier Moon drilled a free-throw to seal the Stingers’ championship, about 2,000 kilometres south of the Meridian Centre at the VISA Athletic Center at the ESPN Wide World of

The league has been buoyed by the success of its MLS is Back tournament in Florida, which concludes Tuesday with the title game between the Portland Timbers and Orlando City. With teams headed home, the plan now is for an abbreviated season.

“It started with a tournament in a bubble, but in our minds it had always been that we would get back into the markets at some point soon,” MLS Commissioner Don Garber said. “And

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — The Patriots have traded an undisclosed 2022 draft pick to the Detroit Lions for cornerback Michael Jackson.

New England announced the deal Sunday. Jackson was originally drafted in the fifth round in 2019 by Dallas. He began his career on the Cowboys practice squad before being signed by Detroit.

He appeared in one game last season and did not register any statistics.

Jackson joins a Patriots team that is looking to add depth in the secondary after veteran Patrick Chung opted out of the upcoming season because of concerns about the coronavirus.
