DENVER — Seasonal colds and the flu spread through NFL locker rooms just about every year, sending some players home sick while others slog through practices hoping they’ll feel better by game day.

Last December, the Patriots flew two airplanes to Houston to keep the healthy players apart from sick ones, which included seven starters. On the final weekend of the 2016 season, the Raiders were ravaged by a bug that swept through their entire roster and waylaid hopes of a deep playoff run.

Now, teams have COVID-19 to worry about.

Offseason workout programs have been entirely virtual since the

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — John Elway says he’s no longer staying on the sidelines and is “joining with the players, coaches and our organization in speaking up against racism, police brutality and any injustice against the black community.”

The comments from the Denver Broncos’ general manager came in a lengthy Twitter post at the end of a tempestuous week in which his head coach, Vic Fangio, drew widespread condemnation for suggesting he didn’t see racism or discrimination in the NFL.

Fangio’s remarks came during a media call Tuesday after the team addressed the widespread demonstrations that were sparked by a white

While the NBA’s hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic may have bought Kevin Durant more time, it is reportedly not enough for the Brooklyn Nets star to be ready to return from the ruptured right Achilles tendon injury he suffered in last year’s NBA Finals.

In a wide-ranging interview with The Undefeated‘s Marc J. Spears, the 31-year-old Durant said he will not suit up for the Nets if and when the league hits unpause on its 2019-20 season at the proposed Disney campus bubble site near Orlando, Fla.

FORT WORTH, Texas — The PGA Tour returns after three months, and some of its biggest stars are ready to play.

The 148-man field for the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial features the top five in the world — Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas and Dustin Johnson.

The biggest name — Tiger Woods — chose not to play. Woods has only played Colonial once, in 1997, when he was going for his third straight victory and shot 72 in the final round to finish three shots behind.

The tour shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, along

FRISCO, Texas — MLS suspended FC Dallas goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez on Friday amid allegations of domestic abuse.

The league said the decision came after a report of alleged incidents of abuse made to police in Frisco, the Dallas suburb that is home to the soccer club. Frisco police didn’t immediate respond to a request for documents.

MLS said Gonzalez voluntarily entered the league’s program for substance abuse and behavioural health. He won’t be eligible to return until he is cleared by doctors in that program and the league has finished its investigation.

The 25-year-old Gonzalez has been the primary starter

Nunes (19-4-0) also holds the bantamweight (135-pound) crown but is only putting her featherweight (145-pound) championship on the line on the pay-per-view card, which will take

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Roger Penske will watch the IndyCar season opener from a suite at Texas Motor Speedway — his first time off the pit stand and on the other side of the fence since his teams failed to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 in 1995.

His relocation is partly for safety. At 83, Penske is considered at high risk for the coronavirus and he will avoid large crowds by working inside the paddock from a transporter separate from the rest of his team. But as the new owner of the IndyCar Series, he has also relinquished his role as
