Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider said starting linebacker K.J. Wright underwent off-season shoulder surgery and is unsure of the timeline of when he’ll be healthy.

In an interview with KJR-AM in Seattle on Thursday night, Schneider said it was not a serious surgery and Wright is currently rehabilitating following the procedure. Schneider declined to discuss further details.

Wright, who will turn 31 in July, has spent his entire career with the Seahawks after being a fourth-round pick in 2011. Wright has started every regular-season game he’s played since the end of the 2011 season. He signed a two-year extension

Dwight Powell’s basketball journey is full of unusual twists, turns and setbacks. Through them all, though, it’s been guided by one idea: Don’t hold back, don’t leave anything on the table by not reaching high enough.

“That’s how I was raised,” Powell says. “That’s how you approach things that you’re passionate about, you give them everything you have.”

His hoops career began by coincidence and has been fuelled by tragedy. And even while trying to rehabilitate a career-threatening injury in the midst of a pandemic, he’s looking ahead and looking out for others.

His mom, Jaqueline Weir, who passed

The hopes of golf fans have been raised by the PGA Tour’s plan to resume its season in mid-June. As part of the revised schedule, the 2020 PGA Championship is now set for August 6-9, with the US Open now in September, and the 84th edition of the Masters now in November.

Rory McIlroy was enjoying a stellar campaign when the PGA Tour season was suspended back in mid-March. However, the world’s top-ranked golfer looks to the resumption of play lagging on the latest odds to win the US Open, set as a +1000 wager on those golf futures

Female athletes, particularly hockey players, will be interested to see if the federal government provides pandemic bailout money to the Canadian Football League.

A men’s professional league that pays an average salary of $80,000 asking for as much as $150 million in taxpayer money has those from the defunct Canadian Women’s Hockey League contemplating the disparity.

A pandemic didn’t shutter the CWHL last year, but the sheer size of CFL’s financial ask is mindboggling to former goaltender Liz Knox.

“We’re asking for peanuts compared to a $150-million ask,” Knox told The Canadian Press on Thursday.

“When the CWHL was folding,

CLEVELAND — Heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic welcomes UFC’s plans to reopen the octagon. The fighter — and firefighter — does have some concerns, though.

After scrapping an idea to hold fights on tribal land in California and cancelling or postponing several events since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, UFC will return to competition May 9 in Jacksonville, Florida.

UFC President Dana White recently announced UFC 249 will be held without fans at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena. Two additional fight cards are scheduled for May 13 and May 16 at the venue.

Miocic said his only reservation about the sport’s

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — NASCAR announced Thursday that it will resume its season without fans starting May 17 at Darlington Raceway in South Carolina with the premier Cup Series racing three more times in a 10-day span.

NASCAR joins the UFC as the first major sports organizations to announce specific return to play plans since the coronavirus pandemic shut down U.S. sports in mid-March.

“NASCAR and its teams are eager and excited to return to racing, and have great respect for the responsibility that comes with a return to competition,” said Steve O’Donnell, NASCAR executive vice-president and chief racing development officer.
